[Personal Story Series] It's Never Too Late

Does getting old scare you? Are you afraid you might be too old to change things or start a new business or a new passion? I want to stop you right now. From my experience, it’s never too late to start new things.

My age has never been an issue

However, I have to be honest; when I left France to come to America, almost nine years ago, I was as excited as scary.

It was the first time of my life; I followed someone with nothing waiting for me there.

My French husband had an excellent opportunity. He was going to be the new head of international digital marketing for Disney.

I was 26. I did not speak English. And I was about to throw away the career I started to build four years before.

I did not have any work permit.

I had no idea what I was going to do besides being by his side, which, by the way, was far from the successful career I visualized when I was working in the Fashion industry in Paris.

At the age of 26, I learned how to speak English.

At the age of 27 started a business that ultimately failed. At 28, I started another one, which failed. At 29, I built a new venture which ultimately failed again. At that time, I was frustrated. How comes that I could not learn anything from my past experiences?

I suppose it was meant to be.

At age 30, I was craving to learn more about pretty much everything. As a multi-passionate person, nothing scared me. Learning new things was my happy place, so I develop what we called the shiny object syndrome.

That’s me. I could not get enough education. I was lucky because I could satisfy my burning desire to learn more about everything. I invested a lot of $$ to learn new things without knowing that I will use the knowledge someday!

RELATED POST: THE POWER OF THOUGHTS

At age 31, I learned how to sew, made my first dress after a month of learning. I also learned how to draw and how to cook. I became obsessed with doing things with my hands.

At 32, I learned how to cut and color hair. I also learned about skin and nails. I even got my Californian cosmetologist license. How cool is that?

Just like that, I became a hairstylist. I created artistic pieces such as creative wigs; I did fashion shows and photoshoots. I got published. I also worked in a salon and built a clientele of awesome customers.

My new things eventually became something profitable and sustainable that I love and am proud of.

I am 34 now. I recently became a mama.

When I became pregnant, I knew that once my baby was going to be here, it will be hard for me to leave him.

So, I started a mom blog in which I shared my learnings and experiences about my awesome pregnancy. My goal was to make it profitable so I could stay with my son by the time he was born.

And it worked! I kept showing up, learning, learning, and learning. Several times already, I adjusted my offer to what I thought made more sense for my audience and me.

After failing for so many years, I finally learned something. My most recent work has shown excellent results. And you guys are here, which is the best thing ever. I must have done something right.

I know I will learn so much more. I will fail again. But I promise myself that I will never stop to start again.

Would you promise me the same?
